各位同學新春愉快! 又是新的一年到來, 首先希望同學們在2012年都能夠持續在英文上精進喔! 因應同學們的需求, 在此Allen對關於2012雅思作文方向做了一些預測與估計, 希望對同學有所幫助喔!
TASK 1
2012年若無意外, 圖表題應會以bar chart(柱狀圖)和pie chart(餅狀圖)作文為主，其次為line graph(線狀圖)。請同學們要多加練習喔! 不過, 今年上半年流程圖和地圖題也會有至少25%的出現機率, 請同學要多留心。流程圖應會以傳統循環類為主（e.g. 蠶寶寶生長過程, 玻璃瓶的回收等），地圖則是要著重看新舊區域的改變與對比（e.g. 一個海岸城鎮的發展跟規劃）。
TASK 2
上半年基本上Task2 仍是以argumentation(議論文)為主, 主要在詢問同學的opinion(意見)為主, 所以題型會以 benefits v.s. drawbacks / discuss both sides and give your own ideas為主。至於內容仍是以傳統三大類: 教育/政府/社會類為主, 政府類通常會搭配一個小主題, 如是否蓋博物館或管理個人生活方式, 或是政府如何分配資金等等。不過科技(e.g. 新能源開發) & 環保全球化的議題(e.g. 富國幫助窮國…)也要多留心。 以下是一些2012可能出現的題目, 大家可以這些方面來準備。
Education
1. Some people think children should obey the rules their parents and teachers set and listen to them, but others think less control will help children to deal with their future adult life. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
2. Some people think adults should learn practical skills by themselves, while others think they should learn from teachers. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
3. Some people say university students should pay for their tuition fees. Some others say the government should pay for the tuition fees. What is your opinion?
4. Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Government
1.Some people believe that people should keep all the money they earned. However, others believe that it is an obligation to pay tax to the state. Discuss both sides and give your own opinion.
2.Throughout history, male leaders always lead us to violence and conflict. If female leaders govern society, it will be more peaceful. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
3.Some people think governments should act to decide how people live in order to make a healthier life. Others think individuals should decide their own lifestyle. What do you think about this? Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Technology
1. Fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, natural gas are used in many countries. But in some countries, the use of alternative sources of energy, including wind and solar power, are encouraged. Is this trend a positive or negative development?
2. Some people think it is necessary to use animals for testing medicines intended for human use. Others, however, think it is cruel to do that. Discuss both of these views and give your own opinion.
3. Some people hold that the development of modern technology leads to environmental pollution and energy shortage. Do you agree or disagree?
4. Some people think that the range of technology available to individuals makes the increasing of gaps between rich people and poor people. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
Social Issues
1. Multi-cultural societies, in which there is a mixture of different ethnic peoples, bring more benefits than drawbacks to a country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
2. Surveys show that in many countries, people are living longer but increased life expectancy has many implications for the aging individuals and for society as a whole. What are the possible effects of longer living for individuals and society?
3. Detailed description of crimes on newspaper and TV may have bad consequences on society, so this kind of information should be restricted on media. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
4. Recent research shows that majority of the criminals who are sent into the prison continue to commit crime after they are set free. What do you think in the case? What should be done to solve this problem?
5. Long distance flight consumes natural resources and pollutes the air. Some people think it should be banned. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Globalization
1. In the past, people used to travel to see the differences from their home country. However, the scenery in places around the world seem similar nowadays. What the causes of these similarities? Do you think that the advantages of this similarities outweigh the disadvantages?
2. The wide spread of English language is an unstoppable trend nowadays. Meanwhile the disappearing of lesser-known languages is also a major social issue for many nations. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages for this issue?
3. Some people said giving aid to poorer countries has more negative effects than positive effects. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?
